CARDS, CARDS, CARDS!

Hey there, checking in again after a super busy autumn! I was happy to visit with some family I hadn't seen in a few years and travel around the province a bit. Now that COVID numbers are on the rise again, I am glad I visited when I did!

I have been having a blast hosting monthly online crop weekends since March.  I dole out some challenges and the attendees always hit it out of the park with their creations. I usually do a few creative tutorials with them during the weekend and thought I would share some of the cards I've made during these events.

This first one was inspired by a layout done by Gina Brandstetter (which I did duplicate for my album!) and thought I could scale it down to a card front size. Lots of stamping and a bit of embossing and fussy cutting, but love the finished result!

This card was to demonstrate an emboss resist technique along with some ink blending and using tools in ways other than they were intended. Slimline cards are making a comeback too, so I wanted to show them that size card.

And finally, this set of cards was the result of demonstrating a crayon resist technique and ink blending using the Distress Oxide inks. So pretty and so easy!

Thanks for popping in, leave me a comment to say Hello!

Hopscotch Layout - Bashing My Stash!

We all have it, that never-ending stash of paper and embellies, right?  I am on a mission to try to use some of mine up. I figure I spent money on it, might as well try to get my money's worth.  This layout features Hopscotch which was one of my favourite collections back in the day. I only have enough left to make one more layout or a few cards perhaps, then it will be gone.  I participate in SCT Delivered Classes and this is a layout I created using their sketch provided.  The colours are a bit more vibrant in real life. :-)

Products used:  CTMH Hopscotch paper pack(ret), Flaxen (ret) and Glacier cardstocks, Tabs & Tags thin cuts, D1755 Pack Your Bags (ret), Glacier thick twine (ret) Colour-ready Borders (ret), white daisy paper flowers (inked to match the papers) CTMH brads (ret) enamel dots (ret) and a PML card that I cut the camera out of.  Non CTMH - Frames from Simple Stories, letter stickers from Basic Grey (you know they are old!!)

So pleased to have used so many of my older products!

April 2020 CTMH Cross Canada Hop

Welcome to the April 2020 CTMH Cross Canada Hop featuring the  "Seas The Day" product suite! I am sure that we are all enjoying the extra crafting time we have since we are all staying home as much as possible. Scrapbooking and card making online with friends have kept me sane. Hope you are coping well and following the directives of your local public health officials. If you have joined me from Michelle's blog, you are in the right place.

I created a layout again this time for the hop, documenting my son's birthday dinner. It's our tradition to let the person celebrating choose their birthday meal. We went to an awesome burger place in Halifax, NS called Relish. Highly recommend their burgers (after we are allowed out to play, of course!) and the poutine was quite tasty too!

I broke out the sewing machine for this one and added stitching along the edges of the White Daisy card stock, as well as along the top of the anchor patterned paper. Here is the list of everything used to create this layout:
X7255B  Seas the Day paper pack
X7255C Seas the Day coordinating card stock
1385 White Daisy card stock
X6047 Black card stock

X7255F Seas the Day Dot
X9013 Mix-In Paper pack

January 2020 CTMH Cross Canada Hop

Here we are again, brand new year! I am looking forward to a year of creativity with CTMH and it starts right now with our Cross Canada Blog Hop featuring the gorgeous Spruced Up collection.  If you've hopped here from Michelle's blog, you are in the right place.

Spruced Up -  I had to have it all as soon as I laid my eyes on it!! So much for the craft budget....but it really is a very versatile collection. I have seen so many gorgeous cards and layouts created with this paper collection and was quite happy to finally have a play with it. Here is the layout I've created:

This paper was perfect for some photos I had from a Christmas Home Tour I participated in a couple of years ago.  While MY tree ended up falling, smashing ornaments everywhere and crushing the poinsettias that were around it, this home was fully decked out with several trees. The day we visited the homes had seen some heavy, wet snow fall making it very festive and beautiful.

Products used:  X7253B Spruced Up Paper Pack, cardstock (French Vanilla, Linen, New England Ivy, Mink, and Sangria) Z3637 Spruced Up Scrapbooking stamp & thin cuts, thin 3-D foam tape, piercing tool, Clear sparkles, Bitty sparkles, Silver Glitter gems, Micro Tip scissors, Scallop border thin cuts (retired) Winter Flurries thin cuts (retired) and Snowflakes thin cuts (retired), ribbon from my stash, thread for hand stitching.
