Layout 12 & 13 2012 Challenge

Frantic is my word of the month!! Perhaps year!  Just seems to not be enough hours in my days lately and I am so looking forward to my vacation.  But until then, here are a couple of the layouts I mentioned last post.  They feature my beautiful grandson who is the light of my life.  I long to see him again but we live so far apart.

This layout was one from a swap I participated in a couple of years ago.  I wish I could remember the consultant who created it.  I absolutely love it!!

I still need to journal this, but I did this layout while out at the cottage with the girls this fall.  The paper is from Echo Park.....LOVE them!  It was the first time Tyler played on the swings at the park and he just squealed with delight.

Till next time!

Cards 20 - 22 2012 Challenge

Boy, what a slacker I've been at posting my projects!  I am so far behind with this 2012 Challenge.  And it's not because I don't have anything to post....just can't seem to find the time to get on here and get 'er done.  These cards were from a gathering/workshop held recently and feature our "Clementine" paper pack.  I love the colours in this collection!  I used our Stamp of the Month "Fall Favourites", "For Every Occasion",  and also "A Little Thanks".  The colouring was done with our alcohol markers.....love them!!

I am hoping to get some of my layouts photographed to post next time!  Have a wonderful day, thanks for stopping by!

Layout # 11 2012 Challenge

I am posting a layout this time, just a quick one I did - trying to get some older pictures scrapped and in the album.  These were taken when we moved from Barrie, ON to Winnipeg over 4 years ago.
I am going to Ontario on Thursday for a few days.  I am FINALLY going to see my grandson (and of course Josh & Jody too!!)  I am so excited....can hardly contain myself.  I need to start packing....will post again when I get back.

OK, I know it's only August 1st, but I was busy making Christmas cards last month for a workshop. These are the five cards we made, two of each, so everyone went home with 10 cards. Now that's what I call a good head start!

And these are the lovely ladies hard at work (play?) last Sunday afternoon:

Lots of fun on a rainy afternoon!  Hope you can join us next time!!

Simple Cards # 13 & 14 2012 Challenge

Over a month since my last post, time flies.  Why the delay?  Well, I was helping my youngest son find an apartment and then move to Halifax because he is attending college there.  His course actually started on July 3rd - this college does not break for the summer and his program is three years, condensed into two years.  So, I am officially an "empty nester" now - not sure how I'm feeling about that yet, some days it is great, other days I miss having the kids around.   Summer has been busy - we were in Halifax for Canada Day celebrations, we've been canoeing at Aylesford Lake, attended some festivities and the fireworks for the Steer BBQ in Kingston.  So here is a simple card that I did with my "shoebox" girls....
And this is another simple one that I took right from the CTMH Idea Book for the June Stamp of the Month:
Most of the pieces for this card were cut with CTMH Art Philosophy cartridge....Psst - have you heard about our new cartridge available August 1st - "Artiste"??

Hope you are enjoying summer as much as I am.  Till next time......

Layout # 10 2012 Challenge

Life has been busy in our household......water heater leaking all over the floor and no hot water, son looking for accommodation for school in two weeks time (yep, he has no place to live so far!) so we're off to the city on the weekend.  I have been doing quite a few welcome wagon visits, and I had a huge CTMH gathering last weekend that was a blast!!  Booked a cruise for the fall and I am looking forward to the vacation!!!!

This layout has some wild paper from a pad I bought at Michaels but I thought it was perfect for these birthday pictures.  Justin's friends from Winnipeg all enjoying Rockband,  Justin's on drums and yep, that's me on guitar...lol.  Notice the awesome Triple Fudge Cake made by moi - Justin's favourite cake.

    Layout 9 - 2012 Layout Challenge

Layout # 9....I am so far behind!  This is one of my favourites that I did at the last crop I attended.  I love the summery colours and I was able to use up some paper I've had around for a little while.  The flowers are made from 1/2" or 1/4" strips of paper that are looped and held in place with adhesive, then you stack the loops and poke a hole through the center and secure with a brad.  Great way to use up those little strips of scrap paper.  I am entering this in Seriously Creative's May Challenge - Handmade flowers challenge.

Don't forget about the candy I have available to be won!

    Layouts 6-8 2012 Layout Challenge

OK, where the heck did the last month go???  Is it just me, or does time seem to go by faster as you get older?  And speaking of getting older, I will be another year older very soon so I thought that perhaps I should give away a little blog candy in celebration of my big day!  Interested??  Watch for a post in a day or two with the picture of the "candy".  For now, here are a few of the layouts I promised.   I have a really hard time using some of my patterned papers, in particular the map and also the die cut paper.  I struggle with how to cut them up and use them, without loosing the "look" of the paper that I love so much.  These three layouts were from a road trip we took a couple of years ago from Winnipeg to Ontario and back again and I couldn't seem to get them done because I wanted to use these papers but couldn't commit to how I would use them.  I finally just did them.  I like the top and bottom ones, not so happy with the middle one.

      Done, like dinner!

    Layout # 5 2012 Layout Challenge

After being sick for over a week now, I am finally starting to feel like my old self and getting down to business!  I am such a slacker lately with my blog, despite my best efforts, it just seems like there is too much to do and not enough hours in the day lately.

I attended a scrapbooking/cardmaking crop in Windsor, NS on the 24th/25th of March that was organized by My Stamping Studio.  We had a fantastic time and came home with so much free product - Kelly is just soooo generous! I managed to get a few layouts done, so I will be posting those once I put some finishing touches on them.  For now, this is one that I did over two months ago now and forgot to post!

This picture doesn't do the colours any justice but the yellows and the corals and pinks look so pretty and match the flowers so well.  We have an annual dahlia show in my community and at the end of the show, they bunch up the blossoms and sell the bouquets.  I got the very last one (only paid $5!!) and they were gorgeous.  One blossom was so large, I put it in it's own vase on my windowsill in the kitchen.  Base paper is from Basic Gray, cardstock from my stash, chipboard thickers painted yellow, Zig journaling pen.

    Layout 4 - 2012 Layout Challenge

I have a new shopping website.....click the link on my sidebar to check it out.  I love how CTMH makes it so easy to run my business and the improvements to our websites are fantastic!  Love it!

My layout this time is one that I had started awhile ago, but finally finished.  Another easy one, the Basic Grey base paper was so beautiful that I didn't have to do much to it.

I glimmermisted some CTMH paper butterflies and embellished with CTMH Pearl opaques.  The title is from Heidi Swapp - a flocked resist that I glimmermisted to match the base paper.  I added the felt flower ribbon and voila, done.

    2012 Challenge, Layout # 3

OK, so I am a little late joining in this year but I do want to take part in our annual challenge.  I love our blogging community and it was so nice to check in on everyone's blogs and read your comments left here as well.  I am going to challenge myself to do at least 52 layouts and 52 cards this year.  Right now that seems like a manageble number, but last year I came no where near this same goal!  Let's hope this year is more productive!  This layout was a sketch challenge from My Stamping Studio in Windsor, NS (thanks for the push Kelly) and if you check out her blog, you will see all the fabulous entries.  You will also see that I won a gift certificate for participating in the challenge - woot!!

The sketch that we were required to use was from Page Maps.  I used CTMH colonial white cardstock for my base, which I spritzed with Green Apple Glimmermist and inked the edges with CTMH Chocolate ink.  The papers are from a 6 x 6 Basic Gray Marjolaine pad and the large flower base is from a die cut package from the same line.  I added a paper flower glimmer misted to match the base paper, a brown flower and brad for the center from my stash.  The vinyl lacy border is from K&Company and I must say, the adhesive back did not stick very well...won't be buying them again.  I also used one of CTMH's Kraft Colour-ready Borders and inked it to match the misting.  I hand cut the banners and then used a CTMH marker in Chocolate to add the faux stitching on all the edges of the papers.  I added a couple CTMH Mocha Opaques and the felt letters in the title are from Thickers.  The ribbon stapled at the top left was from my stash.
    Until next time......

    Knock, Knock.....anyone still out there?

It's been a long time since my last post, my husband keeps prompting me to post something!  You know it's been awhile when a guy notices something missing...lol.  So first to update everyone, my Mom is doing very well and is living with us now (for the time being) and that is why I've been away for so long.  I have just been enjoying the time with her, catching up after being away for seven years.  Her health issues are under control but now she worries about what the future will bring.  I find that she has lost her confidence to do things on her own....but that will come back with time.  We have been scrapbooking together a little bit though!  I am hoping to get back into the swing of things and be able to scrapbook on a more regular basis.  These are a couple of layouts that I did using a kit from Basic Gray:

I took the photos while the layouts were in page protectors so they have a bit of shine and the colours are a little brighter in real life than they appear in the photos.  So there, now I have posted something for 2012!  I'll be trying to get caught up with everyone's blogs in the next little while too!  Missed seeing what everyone was working on and hearing about what's been going on in your lives!
